🎭 What is Studio J?

A collaborative collective of passionate theatre creators focused on high-impact, low-requirement productions.

Whatever we want it to be! There’s no set definition of a Studio J show — each production is created by the performers themselves, so we get to play to our strengths.

Short-form improv? Absolutely!
Sketch comedy? You bet!
Fully staged Molière classics? Probably not… but hey, anything’s possible!

Basically, if you have a theater skill, we want to see it shine.

Where do we perform?
Anywhere we can! While our “home base” is the Joliet Bicentennial Park Theatre, we’ll also explore local bars, restaurants, banquet halls — basically, anywhere our shows can come to life.

Who are we looking for?
We’re casting 6–12 performers, ages 18+, who will join the company for a full year. Don’t worry — this doesn’t mean every day is taken up! We’ll design shows to be flexible, so the cast can rotate and everyone gets a chance to participate.
